Summary

Former 104th US General Hospital, built in 1942. Numerous buildings with associated sewerage works and slit trenching were visible as earthworks and structures on aerial photographs taken in 1945. Most of the buildings have since been demolished and replaced by modern structures. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

Former 104th US General Hospital, built in 1942. It comprised two spider blocks and many detached single-storey buildings. <1>

Former 104th US General Hospial, built in 1942. Numerous buildings with associated sewerage works and slit trenching were visible as earthworks and structures on aerial photographs taken in 1945 <2>. Most of the buildings have since been demolished and replaced by modern structures. Demolishion occurred sometime between 2000 and 2005 <3-6>. The southern portion of the site now lies under modern plantation of Hurn Forest <7>. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
