Clay pit shown on the 1st epoch Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Old Clay Pit'. The feature is visible as an oval tree-filled hollow within a larger area of disturbed ground on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted from these sources during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

Clay pit shown on the 1st epoch Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Old Clay Pit' [1]. The feature is visible as an oval tree-filled hollow within a larger area of disturbed ground on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted from these sources during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project [2]. The oval feature is recorded as a pond on an OS map dated 1955 [3]. The feature is currently under trees on available Google Earth imagery.
