Full Description
Clay pit shown on the 1st epoch Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Old Clay Pit' [1]. The feature is visible as an oval tree-filled hollow within a larger area of disturbed ground on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted from these sources during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project [2]. The oval feature is recorded as a pond on an OS map dated 1955 [3]. The feature is currently under trees on available Google Earth imagery.
