Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit, 39m across, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the north of Cole's Cross (1). The feature is marked as an Old Chalk Pit on the OS 1st edition map (2). It was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. A second possible pit lies to the south immediately adjacent to the lane. The features are still visible as extant earthworks on recent lidar imagery (3).
