Full Description
Historic banked and ditched field boundaries to the northwest of Lower Brimley Coombe Farm, Stoke Abbott, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and (2). Their straight rectilinear form and close parallel nature may indicate former strip field boundaries of medieval origin, although they appear to be located within a small post medieval enclosure so a later date is also possible. The latest Google Earth imagery (3) shows substantial boundary removal in this area since 1947 (1) and (2) and the site is no longer visible. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
