Full Description
A unit of narrow ridged cultivation marks is visible as earthworks to the southwest of Providence Cottage, Broadwindsor, on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). Its form suggests a probable post medieval origin, probably the result of steam ploughing, but an eary 20th century date is also possible. The cultivation ridges appear to extend across a banked field boundary, possible a relict medieval strip boundary (MDO38958). The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
