Summary

A system of bank and ditched field boundaries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south west of Pottle Oysters Coppice. They are considered likely to be of medieval or post medieval date and were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

A system of bank and ditched field boundaries is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south west of Pottle Oysters Coppice (1). The features are considered likely to be of medieval or post medieval date and were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. The area is overlain by narrow cultivation marks of probable 20th century origin which has not been plotted. The site has been plough-levelled and is partially visible as cropmarks on later photography (2).
