Full Description

A group of barrows and mounds in Seven Barrow Plantation: (2)

'F' - (SY 64719234). Bowl barrow, 29 ft diameter and 2 1/2 ft high. (RCHM No 12e; Grinsell's Bradford Peverell bowl barrow No 11). (3)

The area in which these barrows lie is so densely covered with trees and undergrowth that it could only be penetrated in part. Mounds 'D','E','F','G','L', and 'M' appear to be bowl barrows and 'C' a long barrow.

An unusual barrow group situated near the crest of a broad south-west spur. The undergrowth which formerly obscured the group and limited investigation has been removed and the north-west half of the area completely cleared of woodland. This part is regularly used as a cattle pen with the consequence that severe damage is incurred by their trampling, especially to the lower monuments. See plan and ground photographs.

'F'. SY 64709234. A bowl barrow, 9.0 metres in diameter and 0.8 metres high, with no visible ditch. The top and sides have been damaged by the removal of trees. Barrows surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D.

Part of the barrows and mounds in Seven Barrow Plantation; 12 in number and they are much overgrown. Bowl Barrow, 29ft. In diam and 2.5ft. High.

This barrow was 10 paces in diameter and 2 1/2 feet in height. <2>
