Full Description
A large shallow hollow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the south west of Champernhayes Farmhouse (1). It is considered likely to be a post medieval extractive pit with an associated trackway running along the northern edge of one of the field boundaries described in MDO38880. The hollow is 30m across and was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP, it is still visible as an extant feature on recent lidar imagery (2).
