Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the west of Conegar Cottage, Broadwindsor, is visible as earthworks around 49m long on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The site is not shown on the OS 1st Edition map (3), despite being in an area of old chalk pits and quarries, but would likely be post medieval in origin. The site shows clearly on an aerial photograph taken in 1971 (4) and is still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (5). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
