Full Description
A post medieval chalk pit to the northeast of Lower Park Farm, Broadwindsor, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The OS 1st Edition map (3) shows this as an 'old chalk pit'. The area of quarrying fills the current enclosure in which it is located and may extend further west into an enclosure to the north of Lower Park Farm, partly showing as under plantation on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The site is still partially visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (4). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
