Full Description
Parallel ridges showing up as earthworks to the west of Potwell Nurseries, Broadwindsor, on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2) may represent historic cultivation marks, possibly post medieval narrow ridge and furrow. The faint linears extend over two enclosures and are not aligned with the current field pattern. They do appear to be located within a wider field pattern of probable medieval origin, potentially suggesting a medieval or later date. The site has been partially redeveloped by Potwell Nurseries and the marks are not visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
