Full Description
Historic banked field boundaries or possible medieval strip field to the northeast of Greengate, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The low lynchets are slightly curvilinear in form and run closely parallel to each other along the line of the larger enclosure in which they site. They potentially represent former medieval strip field boundaries, although a post medieval origin may also be possible. The site is now partially redeveloped by Greengate and the boundaries are not visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
