Full Description
Historic banked and ditched field boundaries to the southeast of Blackenfields Farm, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). Their slightly curvilinear form and alignment suggests a probable medieval origin but a later date is also possible. The boundaries appear to sub divide larger enclosures of probable medieval origin and may represent former strip field boundaries. The westernmost of the set may be bounded or cut by an area of potential post medieval quarrying (MDO38804). The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
