Full Description

Historic banked and ditched field boundaries to the south of Blackenfields Farm, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). Their comparatively straight rectilinear form and alignment suggests a probable post medieval origin but an earlier date is also possible. The boundaries appear to sub divide larger enclosures of probable medieval origin, with the southeastern set of boundaries appearing to overlie an area of possible post medieval quarrying (MDO38804). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
