Summary

Historic ditched field boundaries on the west side of Blagdon Hill, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and on the latest Lidar imagery. The narrow rectilinear boundaries sub divided a larger enclosure of possible medieval origin, suggesting a possible post medieval date, although an earlier date is also possible. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Historic ditched field boundaries on the west side of Blagdon Hill, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The narrow rectilinear boundaries sub divided a larger enclosure of possible medieval origin, suggesting a possible post medieval date, although an earlier date is also possible. The site is still partially visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
