Summary

A post medieval extractive pit and the site of a post medieval lime kiln to the north of Coleplay Cottage, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on the latest Lidar imagery. The extractive pit is marked as 'old quarry' on the OS 1st Edition map and the lime kiln is also shown. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

A post medieval extractive pit and the site of a post medieval lime kiln to the north of Coleplay Cottage, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on the latest Lidar imagery (1). The extractive pit is marked as 'old quarry' on the OS 1st Edition map (2) and the lime kiln is also shown. The potential site of the lime kiln is still visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1971 (3). The site is still faintly visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (4). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
