Full Description
Historic banked and ditched field boundaries to the north of Hursey House, Burstock, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1), 1970s (2) and on the latest Lidar imagery (3). The boundaries are not shown on the OS 1st Edition map but they appear to continue a pattern of sub division of linear plots of possible medieval origin to the southeast. This suggests the boundaries are potentially of late medieval or post medieval origin that were already out of use by the time of the OS 1st Edition map. The site is still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (4)and was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
