Summary

A 19th or early 20th century extractive pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 within Coney's Castle hillfort on it's north eastern side. The feature is 40m across and is still visible as a slight hollow on Google Earth imagery taken in 2005. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

A 19th or early 20th century extractive pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 within Coney's Castle hillfort on it's north eastern side (1). The feature is 40m across and is still visible as a slight hollow on Google Earth imagery taken in 2005 (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
