Full Description
Post medieval quarrying is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on the northern side of Coney's Castle hillfort (1). The site is marked as a gravel pit on the OS 1st edition map (2); these workings have mutilated the Iron Age ramparts on this side. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP; it is still visible on recent Google Earth imagery and is now the site of a small car park (3).
