Full Description

Historic banked and ditched field boundaries to the west of Hursey, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The broad, slightly curvilinear, nature of the boundaries and their alignment with a wider field pattern of probable medieval origin may indicate contemporaneity, although a post medieval date is also possible. The boundaries are still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
