Full Description
The site of a post medieval lime kiln to the west of Hursey, Burstock, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and 1970s (2) and on the latest Lidar imagery (3). The lime kiln was siutated on the eastern edge of a large extractive pit (MDO38737), shown as both 'quarry' and 'old quarry' on the OS 1st Edition map (4). The site is clearly visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1971 (2) and on the latest Google Earth imagery (5). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
