Full Description
A small hollow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the south of Higher Sminhay Farm (1). It is 24m across and marked on the OS 1st edition map (2). The feature is considered likely to be an extractve pit or pond of post medieval origin. It is still visible as a tree-filled hollow on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. A linear ditch, probably and associated trackwasy runs up to the hollow from it's south western side, this has since been levelled.
