Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the northeast of Lower Newnham Farm is visible as an earthwork around 65m long on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and a Lidar survey of 2010 (2). The site is showing as an enclosure under plantation on the OS 1st Edition historic mapping (3) and the site is still under tree cover on the latest Google Earth imagery (4). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
