Full Description
A probable post medieval extractive pit to the southwest of Whetham Farm is visible as an earthwork around 56m long on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1). An aerial photograph taken in 1947 (1) shows the area of quarrying abutting a post medieval or earlier boundary (MDO38645) to the west, indicating that this boundary was probably in situ and still extant when the quarrying commenced. The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
