Summary

Perpendicular ditched features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 crossing an area of rough ground to the north west of Northwood. They appear to cut across a modern field boundary and are therefore possibly the remains of earlier (medieval?) field boundaries or later drainage ditches. The features were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Perpendicular ditched features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 crossing an area of rough ground to the north west of Northwood (1). They appear to cut across a modern field boundary and are therefore possibly the remains of earlier (medieval?) field boundaries or later drainage ditches. The features were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP, they have since been levelled and are no longer visible on more recent Google Earth imagery (2).
