A small post medieval extractive pit to the south of Childhay is visible as an earthwork about 20m long on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1). The site is shown as a small copse on the OS 1st Edition historic mapping. The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
