Full Description
A series of curving lynchets on the east side of Cockpit Hill are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1970s (1). The curvilinear form and close parallel setting of the northern group of lynchets suggest possible medieval strip lynchets, although this is not so clear in the southwestern group. The lynchets are still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2), although there is some loss of visibility of the northernmost group of lynchets. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
