Full Description
Two small post medieval extractive pits measuring around 43m by 21m and 20m by 12m are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). They form part of a group of three small extractive pits either side of Cockpit Hill, the other one(MDO 38560) lying within Broadwindsor CP. The extractive pits are still visible as rounded hollows on vertical aerial photographs taken in 2009 (2) and on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
