Full Description

Three grass-covered ditchless bowl barrows ranging from 20.0m to 23.0m diameter and 0.4m to 0.8m high. <2>

Listed as bowl barrows by Grinsell. This barrow was 19 paces in diameter and 3/4 of a foot in height. <3>

Three mounds, probably bowl barrows, on a spur north-west of Penn Hill. The northermost ('A') is 56ft diameter and 6ins high; the second ('B'), 30 yards to the south-east is 58ft diameter and 9ins high; the third ('C'), 70 yards south of ('A') is 50ft diameter and 9ins high. <4>

SY 645929 Three round barrows north of Penn Hill. Scheduled. (See SY 69 SW 71 for probable excavation of these barrows). <5>

These three barrows have been completely ploughed out; deleted from M.S.D. <6>

‘(11) Mounds, probably bowl barrows, on a spur N.W. of Penn Hill and ¾ m. W. of the church, are three in number. The northernmost (a) is 56 ft. in diam. and ½ ft. high; the second (b), 30 yards to the S.E., is 58 ft. in diam. and ¾ ft. high; the third (c), 70 yards S. of (a), is 50 ft. in diam. and ¾ ft. high.’
