Full Description

The barrow was identified by RCHME in 1993 during a rapid examination of air photographs <1>. Although the barrow has not been excavated, it is clear that it was ploughed out prior to 1954 and now has limited potential. Geophysical survey and sample excavation may determine the extent of survival and potential, but on present evidence it is not proposed to schedule this barrow. <2>

Visible on aerial photographs dated 2009. This monument represents a westerly offset addition to the group of five barrows 'in an almost straight line' listed by the RCHME. No evidence for remnant mound or bank material could be discerned, and no internal features could be seen. The southern arc of the monument abuts the ditch of what appears to be a rather smaller oval-ditched feature - also presumably a barrow. <3>
