Full Description
A polished Neolithic flint axehead was found in the field (about ST 801239) on Hunger Hill, East Stour by J. Miller circa 1955. The axe had one end broken off, but this had been crudely rechipped to shape; the width at the centre was 4.6 cms.
and the length 10.2 cms, which would originally have been about 14 cms. In the possession of J. Miller. <1>

'(b) Mr. J. Miller kindly sent for examination a polished Neolithic axe-head found in field no. 79 of the O.S. 25-in. plan (about ST 801239), at Hunger Hill, East Stour, near Gillingham. The axe, which is of pinkish or purplish-brown flint, and finely polished has had one end broken off, but has been crudely rechipped to shape. Its width at the centre is 4.6 cms.; its length, now 10.s cms., would originally have been about 14 cms. The site is on Kimmeridge Clay, slightly east of the Corallian formation. The axe-head is at present in Mr. Miller's possession, pending creation of a local museum.'
