Summary

A wide terraced area lies to the west of Hatchlands, Netherbury. It lies immediately adjacent to a stream (The Mill Race) and may have been constructed to form a cultivation terrace without risk of flooding. The date of the terrace is uncertain, possibly post medieval or earlier. It was digitally plotted from aerial photographs during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

A wide terraced area lies to the west of Hatchlands, Netherbury. It lies immediately adjacent to a stream (The Mill Race) and may have been constructed to form a cultivation terrace without risk of flooding. The date of the terrace is uncertain, possibly post medieval or earlier. It was digitally plotted from aerial photographs during the Marshwood Vale NMP (1) and is still visible on the latest Google Earth imagery.
