Full Description
Extractive pit shown on the 1st Epoch 25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Flint Pit' (OS c1880).
A post medieval extractive pit is visible as a sub-circular ditched earthwork to the southwest of Houghton Wood on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The feature is recorded as an old 'flint' pit on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map of c1880 (OS c1880). It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
