Summary

Part of a Roman pavement, possibly loose tesserae, is reported to have been found in the garden adjacent to the boundary wall of Dorchester Prison. This find was probably made some time in the 1960s.

The house adjacent to Glyde Court is currently number 23 Glyde Path Road.

‘… Wilf Wakely … discovered a piece of, he believed, Roman pavement at the top of his garden, where it abuts the prison grounds … others now live in the house, which is the first one past Glyde Court as you walk away from the town.’
