Summary

A small shallow undated ditch or gully was found in evaluation trench 102 of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme route. It was found on the same line as a more extensive linear boundary, but it is unclear if this is related. The record for this monument has been created with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

A shallow undated ditch or gully (102009) aligned roughly NE-SW was found in the northern half of evaluation trench 102 of the archaeological evaluation of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme route. This ditch was 0.29m wide and 0.07m deep. No dating evidence was recovered. It lay on the same alignment as ditch 102003 to the south, which forms part of an extensive linear boundary (MDO37361). It is unclear whether the gully is associated with this boundary feature. [1]

A shallow ditch 102009 lay in the northern half of the trench and contained a single fill 102010 from which no finds were recovered.
