Full Description
An undated pit (110009) was found in evaluation trench 11 of the archaeological evaluation of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme route. This pit was sub-circular in plan, about 1.7m across, with steeply sloping sides. The base was not exposed. It had a single fill from which no artefactual material was retrieved. [1]
The record for this monument has been created with support from Wessex Water.

Pit 11009 (Fig. 41, Section 9) was located towards the south-eastern extent of Trench 11. Its profile was suggestive of an Iron Age storage pit and it contained a single fill 11010 from which no artefactual material was retrieved. Its location did not correspond to any identified geophysical anomaly although there was magnetic disturbance at this end of the trench caused by a nearby service trench.
