Full Description
A gravel pit shown on the first edition Ordnance Survey map (1888). On this map it is described as 'Old Gravel Pit' at the northern end, and 'Gravel Pit' at the southern end. The extractive pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (RAF 1945) and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP. The etxraction appears to have extended southwards across the Horton Road (RAF 1947).
