Full Description
Two areas of 'Celtic' fields on Charlton Down, now mostly destroyed. These were probably formerly conjoined. The eastern system continues into Thorncombe Parish. See RAF vertical aerial photograph runs CPE/UK 1934:1135-8 3125-7 1094-5
Fragments of a field system are visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery <1-3> and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM. They may be of later prehistoric origin although a medieval reuse is possible. The field system continues to the north and east.
