Summary

Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was reported to have been almost completely destroyed by ploughing. The site is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM.

A-ST 876020. Bowl barrow, 19.0m diameter and 0.6m high with traces of a surrounding ditch. B-ST 87650206. Bowl barrow, 24.0m diameter and 0.8m high with traces of a surrounding ditch. C-ST 87780216. Bowl barrow, 17.0m diameter and 0.4m high (see ST 80 SE 28). <2>

The site is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery <8> and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM. It comprises a central mound, 22m across, with an external ring ditch.

‘Nine barrows in the S.W. of the parish form part of a barrow scatter that is continued in the adjacent parishes of Winterborne Whitechurch and Winterborne Kingston; they lie between 250 ft. and 400 ft. O.D., on the E.-facing slopes of the Chalk downland between the valleys of the Stour and the Winterborne; all have been heavily ploughed. … (19) Bowl (87660206), 200 yds. E.N.E. of (18) and at a lower level on the same spur; almost completely destroyed by ploughing.’
