Summary

During laying of a water pipeline an earlier plough soil was observed beneath the modern topsoil. The buried soil was a grey-brown sandy silt, and contained a number of sherds of medieval pottery; most of the pottery dated to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, but two sherds of fine ware which may date to the twelfth century were recovered.

During laying of a water pipeline an earlier plough soil was observed beneath the modern topsoil. The buried soil was a grey-brown sandy silt, and contained a number of sherds of medieval pottery; most of the pottery dated to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, but two sherds of fine ware which may date to the twelfth century were recovered.
