Full Description
(Centred SY 621879). the 'Gaythorne Group' of barrows is situated on naturally hillocky heath, now largely arable, making it uncertain which rises are barrows. 'B' Almost certainly natural. <3-4>
'B' SY 62048799. A natural mound. Of this group of mounds only 'E' is certainly indentifiable now, as a barrow. 'A' and 'B' deleted from 1:2500 MSD. <5>
A mound, measuring approximately 15.5 metres in diameter, is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photographs <6> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
Initially recorded as a possible Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of potential barrows located on Blagdon Hill (MDO3421-4 & MDO3376-9). Later field investigations considered it more likely to be natural in origin.
