Summary

A mound is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photos. It was thought to be one of a group of potential Bronze Age barrows located on Blagdon Hill, now considered to be natural.

Full Description

(Centred SY 621879). the 'Gaythorne Group' of barrows is situated on naturally hillocky heath, now largely arable, making it uncertain which rises are barrows. 'B' Almost certainly natural. <3-4>

'B' SY 62048799. A natural mound. Of this group of mounds only 'E' is certainly indentifiable now, as a barrow. 'A' and 'B' deleted from 1:2500 MSD. <5>

A mound, measuring approximately 15.5 metres in diameter, is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photographs <6> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Initially recorded as a possible Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of potential barrows located on Blagdon Hill (MDO3421-4 & MDO3376-9). Later field investigations considered it more likely to be natural in origin.
