Full Description

Group of round barrows: … `E` Bowl barrow at SY 61708913, 110 yards north east of `D`. Almost destroyed. <1>

(SY 61708913) The possible barrow was proved, by excavation in 1981, to be the downgraded remnants of a geological solution hollow. <3-4>

Site of a possible Bronze Age ditched bowl barrow, one of a group of several possible barrows situated in this area (MDO3399-403) and probably associated with the Late Bronze Age settlement earthworks (MDO3411), within which they are interspersed.

Recorded as an extant mound by RCHM <1>. Also visible as an earthwork and a cropmark on aerial photographs {2-3}, measuring approximately 10 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

This possible barrow was proved, by excavation in 1981, to infact be the downgraded remnants of a geological solution hollow <3-4>. It was visible on aerial photographs <6-7> and digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
