Full Description

An earthwork E of Castletown, Isle of Portland, is shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1892) (1) and identified on the 2nd edn (1903) (2) as 'Old Battery'. It is likely to have formed part of the post-medieval defences of the naval complex at Portland.
