Full Description
<1> Papworth M, 1997, Pamphill Parish, Kingston Lacy Estate, Wessex Region, 97 (Unpublished document). SDO13960.
‘Medieval pottery 100m SE of Pound Farm … A scatter of pottery and building debris was found in the field south-east of Pound Farmhouse in 1987 (pottery held in the Castle View, Corfe Castle archaeological store). The finds date from the 12th-20th century and area concentrated in the east half of the field. This is probably because a field boundary has been removed and the east field was rarely ploughed before this happened. At ST99620112 is a particular concentration of material on a slight terrace measuring 23m x 15m set into a gentle east slope. Here there was a concentration of pottery dating from the 12th – 18th century. It was probably the site of a building. No building is sown here on the 1774 map R (D/BKL Woodward).’
