Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was reported as being around 48 feet in diameter with a mound about 3½ feet high.

Full Description

Group of barrows at Longlands, including one possible bell, four in a rough alignment south west-north east along spine of spur, with possible long barrow at north east end. The three south west barrows are just above the 500 ft contour and the others above 400 ft. All damaged. Near foot of steep slope to north immediately south of the main road three further barrows at 60449020, 60519025 and 60559018 are shown on OS (1811) but there is now no sign of them.

`B` Bowl 25 yds north east of `A`, also in Dry Wood. Diam 48 ft, ht 3 1/2 ft. <1> <3>

`B` SY 60008977. Tree covered bowl barrow, diameter 17.5m, height., 1.1m. Mutilated on the west side. No visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <4>

Dimensions as above. No visible ditch. In mixed woodland; 6 mature pines and 5 mature sycamore trees grow from the mound. This barrow has been damaged by numerous animal burrows particularly on its west wide. At least 10 were counted. 1/2/C
