Full Description

The OS 3rd edn 1:2500 map (1925) (1) shows a large complex of buildings as 'Motor Works' on what is now Hoyal Road, Hamworthy. On the 4th edn map (1937) the site is marked as 'Hoyal Works'. Hoyal is said to have built motorboats in Hamworthy and coach bodies in Surrey; this evidence suggests that vehicle manufacture may also have taken place here.
