Monument record MDO3303 - Winterbourne Poor Lot Group: pond barrow

Possible site of a Bronze Age pond barrow to the west of Three Barrow Clump. The site is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. {1}

'(32) Pond barrow (SY 59 SE; 59579038) on the valley floor like (30) and 25 yds E. of the Broad Stone (Stones, Winterbourne Abbas (56)). Overall diam about 96ft., with slightly sunken interior about 42 ft. in diam. surrounded by a bank about 27 ft. wide and 1½ ft. high. Break 12 ft. wide in bank on S.S.W is probably original. N. half destryed by road and S. half ploughed.'

The site of the southern half of this barrow is in a regularly ploughed field in ley pasture when visited. It was divided in two by an east-west land boundary, consisting of a hedge and fence. North of the boundary the barrow has been destroyed by a road. There was no trace of this pond barrow.
