Full Description

The OS 1st edn 25in map (1871) (1) shows a N-S stream or ditch passing through the northern part of Stanpit Marsh, Christchurch, marked 'Old Borough Boundary'. It divides a rectilinear drainage system to the west from a less regular system to the east, outside the borough boundary. The ditch is shown on subsequent maps but is not identified specifically.
