Full Description
Two promenades, East and West Parade, with a total length of approximately 500m, were shown behind the shore at Southbourne on the OS 2nd edn 25in map (1898) (1). A block of six houses were shown on the landward side of West Parade. By the time of the 3rd edn (1909) (2) the Parades were no longer extant and the houses were shown only as plots. It is possible that both the Parades and houses were destroyed by storms which damaged Southbourne Pier in 1900 and 1901 (3).
