Full Description
A substantial gravel pit is shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (c 1870) (1) on the W side of Holdenhurst Road, opposite the then terminal of the Christchurch - Bournemouth branch line. The OS 2nd edn map (1898) (2) shows the line extending W through the site to the new station.
